Diabetes Education Services at the Endocrine & Diabetes Care Center (EDCC) provides high quality group and individual education for individuals with diabetes; those who just want some additional information about diabetes; or those looking for nutritional education for weight loss, high cholesterol, or a healthy heart. We were the first and remain nationally recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for meeting all the standards for quality care. All of our educators are Certified Diabetes Educators (nurses and dietitians who meet strict guidelines and are tested every three years to maintain certification so that they are current with all the new aspects of diabetes care).

We provide the following types of education, which includes the core content as recommended by the ADA.

  • Diabetes Self Management Training & Medical Nutrition Therapy
  • Diabetes Overview
  • Nutrition
  • Medication
  • Exercise
  • Acute and Chronic Complications
  • Prevention
  • Stress Management
  • Insulin Initiation
  • Insulin Pump
  • Metabolic Syndrome

Please Note: Most insurances now cover education! However, for insurance purposes, All education requires a written order from your physician. Please call our office at (419) 537-5111. We will get you scheduled and fax the order to your physician for a signature. Also, check your insurance requirements for education. Some require that you receive education from an ADA recognized program (we meet that requirement). Others (e.g., Medicare and Medical Mutual) require that your education be done in a group setting unless there is a medical reason that this would not be possible.
